Healing Out Loud: My Journey with Lupus & a Special Birthday Fundraiser
As some of you may know, I was recently diagnosed with Lupus—a journey I never expected to take. Not long after, I learned that I also have restrictive cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that adds another layer of complexity to my health. Adjusting to this new reality has been anything but easy. Some days are harder than others, and my calendar now revolves around doctor’s appointments, treatments, and learning how to manage flares, triggers, and symptoms.
One of the biggest steps in my journey is coming up soon—I’ll be starting a trial with a heart monitor to track what’s happening in real time. Ironically (or maybe fatefully), this is all happening on my birthday. In a way, I’m choosing to see it as a rebirth—a chance to embrace this journey with faith, resilience, and the hope that my medical team and I will uncover the best way forward.
Through all of this, I’ve realized that so many people don’t fully understand the complexities of chronic illness—especially conditions like Lupus and heart disease. That’s why I’ve decided to start a social media page as a space to "heal out loud”(Linked below).
This isn’t just my journey—it’s a way to connect with others who feel misunderstood, to raise awareness, and to share the realities of life with chronic illness. Think of it as a digital diary—one that I hope will inspire, educate, and create a sense of community.
Because this cause is so close to my heart, I’m launching a mini collection to help raise funds for the Lupus Foundation of America. A large portion of proceeds from specific listings will go directly to this cause, helping to fund research, support, and advocacy for those living with Lupus. The collection will be released just in time for my birthday, and I would love your support in making a difference!
This journey is unpredictable, but I’m holding onto hope, faith, and the belief that a miracle is possible. Thank you for being here, for listening, and for walking this road with me. More to come soon—let’s heal out loud, together.
